Expression of Interest
National Cardiac Registry
Board Chair – Independent Director
Closing date 30 June 2026
The National Cardiac Registry (NCR) is a Clinical Quality Registry established in 2020. At present the NCR documents 25000 PCI procedures and outcomes nationally each year and is active in all states and territories.
The NCR invites expression of interests (EOIs) for the role of board chair from October 2026 for a 3-year term with the option to renew for a further 3 years.
Funding for the NCR is to 30 June 2027 by the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing part under their Clinical Quality Registry (CQR) Program. The growth and development of the NCR over the past 6 years means it is well placed to be funded for the next round of CQR funding (July 2027 to June 2031 announced May 2027.) The new chair will oversee the next stage in the NCR which is likely to include consolidation of the current cardiac registries and introduction of further modules including heart rhythm and heart failure devices and Rheumatic fever.
The NCR is governed and managed by National Cardiac Registry Limited, an independent not-for-profit organisation overseen by the NCR Board comprised of 11 directors:
- 1 x CSANZ member representative
- 1 x ANZSCTS member representative
- 8 x state/territory representatives
- 1 x Independent Director as Board Chair – currently a position held by Dr James Leitch from October 2023.
The NCR is underpinned by the NCR Steering Committee, Indigenous Committee, Audit & Risk Committee, and Variation Oversight Committee.
The chair appointment is currently not a remunerated role however there is potential for remuneration should the board wish to consider this option in the next funding round.
